I found a new homeschooling concept this summer, and I've been trying it out.
Vannan love it - it's called Lapbooking.
So for their first Lapbook - we chose to do the "Old Testament" and work on the same book for an entire year.
This is Vannan's ... so far. And I think she is pretty much the only one succeeding with one.
They really need to see more pictures and ideas.
For the outside - we used an old "hanging" folder.
We taped a 3 ring folder with pockets, some more "traditional" folded lapbook folders, and other stuff to the inside.
Here you see Adam and Eve blaming each other and the serpant for their sinful choice, Noah's flood, Abraham with Isaac on the altar, a Creation tree booklet, a rolled up timeline from Creation to the flood, and an ark booklet.
In this section, she has a "pop-up" (that doesn't) Tower of Babel, and a sheild with different Battels of the OT written onto it.
Inside the orange folder, she has maps and lists from her READER Workbooks for 3rd grade Rod and Staff Reading. It had so many useful things. She just went through the books and took out what she wanted to use.
Here she has the 10 Commandments and the Plagues of Egypt.
We are only just finishing Ruth - so have from Samuel to the end of the OT still to cover.
My goal is for the girls to spend Sunday afternoon's working on their Lapbooks - but so far it's not working out so well. Sunday afternoons are very busy! We also cramm the public Library into that time slot.
