Feb 23 - Big Work Day

This is where Rue likes to sit ... behind me.

Feb 23 - All of our families got together and brought down the
half dead trees next to our trailers.
This type of pine usually grows for around 30 years before dying ...
since they were pushing 25+/- years for several of them,
and a few had brown spots and were dropping limbs close to the trailers,
most had boring bugs,
this was a project that had long been on the list of "need to do".

My dad was raised in logging country,
and use to fell trees for extra income.
One of the grubs "pulling the tractor".

Cousins watching

Caught one coming down!
Dog sitting.
Quarter
my dad's 25th Grandchild

Our second sister has one or two boys younger.
Look at this REALLY COOL LOG!!!
Tree down ... now to remove limbs.

Checking on the wife.

Working hard?
Hardly Working?

Chaining the tree to the tractor.

And the cable goes back over to the tractor.
ALL of these came down.
Vannan doesn't usually pose for pictures.
So I took advantage of her good mood.
Lunch on the logs.
Auntie Viv's girl

Can you see the taunt cable pulling the tree?
Can you see Dad sawing the tree?
Timber!

Crash!!!!
Pile of trimmed limbs.

Here comes another one!
They brought down one about every 40 - 50 minutes -
if they pulled the limbs and drug the truck to the side.

Rue inside with her Innotab.
She was using the wooden spoon to click the buttons.
More trees to come down.

Relaxing

That's a LOT of limbs to pick up.
That's what the little ones were doing.
And the pile just kept growing.

A really dead one ....  See the bathtub ...
I had planting plans for that ....
but the tree landed on it.

It was HEAVY ...  and the guys had already moved it twice ...
oh well.

Another one coming down.

Timber!

This one is still in the yard with the limbs on it.
Though they are dropping off fast.
Then we moved to the front yard
This tree and the one behind it had been dropping limbs on the power lines.

My front yard
There it goes!

My beloved blueberry bush.
And a second one.
I really need the 3rd one replaced ... as it is dead.

That's the power pole ... right next to the dead tree.
It seems strange to not have 6 or so pines sticking up there.

And Kendra spent the day working on her Birthday Blog party.

We never did get her rescued ..... I think she forgot.
