10-4 Joel's New Chore Chart and a Pink LaRue

I saw something somewhat like this on a blog,

pinned it to pintrest,

and now we've got one made.

Joel loves turning around the cards, and for each 4 cards that he turns around, he gets a gold coin.

A gold coin can be turned in for computer and TV time, 

or junk food,

or other privileges.

Actually, this last picture was the next morning.

But those scrunched eyes just crack me up.

Hard to believe that this PJ

was a gift to Vannan for Christmas one year.

Kendra got one too.

Days In Kindergarten - September

Working on pictures "All about ME".
There is a poem there from the Horizon Kindergarten Health book.

I can't figure out why only Marriana got a picture that day.
I'm not at all busy.

Silly faces are contagious.

We practiced counting and fine motor skills.

And loved the sticky glue.

More Random Shapes

This was Matthew's finished work.

He was hungry.

So was Bethie.

And nobody was available to help guide her cutting.
I've got to practice more with her.

Marriana finished hers the next day.
We are just starting the preschool curriculum, so I reinforced her assignment.

We were doing triangles, and colors red, green, and blue.

Random Shapes and Immagination

On Nov. 5, I was really tired and didn't get a craft pulled together for the preschoolers.

So I pulled out some scratch paper and quickly sketched random shapes all over it.

Then repeated this for each of my students.

I told them to color their shapes, cut them out, and then make pictures.

This is a picture of a boy eating an ice cream cone. The stars are his legs. He's standing on a box on the floor. One arm is a circle, the other a very large rectangle. Joel has added many features to his picture since then ... like elbows.

This picture is of a jack-in-the-box that is out of the box. It is sitting on a large oval rug. On the floor is a lot of stuff that needs to be vacuumed. Later Joel added a nice yellow vacuum just like ours. He sketched it sitting on the floor looking at the vacuum.

Naps, Clowns, and Directions

I take way too many pictures of my sleeping baby.

Marriana colored these clowns - 6 of them all total.
Then I let her cut them out all by herself.
She got in a really big hurry.
Because I promised to tape them to sticks so she could have puppets.
Kept her busy all morning.

Joel worked on following directions. Jump 3 times. Take 5 baby steps. Put your toes on your nose. (He loved that one and so did Marriana) Hop 5 times. Turn around and sit down.

He loved all the silly things I told them to do.
I love that silly grin.

Cutting Practice

Preschool Last Week

They all did something different - since we were waiting for LaRue ....

I was surprised that they all did very well going in many directions.

We may do more of this.

Counting with Dominoes

The other night, Joel wanted some extra school work before going to bed.
I was willing - since I had already put Marriana down for the night and Dad wasn't home yet.
So we pulled out his Kindergarten books and did a page.

It had dominoes to count.

So after we finished, I pulled out the miniture set that I had bought last year and showed him how to count the dots and put them in the right pile.

He LOVED the game.

He carefully counted each set of dots. Sometimes adding and sometimes just counting.

At this point, it's not important HOW he does it.

Then he put them in the pile for that answer.

That was a LOT of fun.

Except when the piles started to fall over.

Then he carefully put each of the tiny dominoes back into their box.

He thought that was fun too.
