Jr. Church - Finding a Wife for Isaac

May 30
The story was "Finding a Wife for Isaac"

The kids always get a kick out of my artwork
or lack thereof.

The loved the story.

For our craft, we made bracelets.
To remind us that Eliazar (sp?) had brought lots of jewelry to give to Rebekah.

The really enjoyed it.
The older ones were very careful to make their bracelets even - with matching beads.

I told the boys that they could give them to a girl they liked if they didn't want to keep them -

a mom or sister or a friend.

Joel went off in search of a GIRL.

But in spite of the fact that there are a LOT of girls in our church,
he couldn't find one.

So I began pointing out good prospects.

Finally he looks at me all exaspirated.

BUT MOM.
I don't want to marry any of them.
She is married to a husband.
I don't like her that much.
And that one is a BABY.

And off he walked shaking his head.

Leaving me rather stunned.

So if he offers you a bracelet - you better ask him what his intentions are.

Jr. Church Thanksgiving

I was able to do 2 weeks of Jr. Church between bringing LaRue back to church and our accident.
There are just boys in our group - and they are so much fun!
I'm really looking forward to getting to going again in February when LaRue can go back to church.

I drew a turkey to get them to tell me which holiday was coming up. I'm no artist.

Then our story was about the 10 lepers and only 1 came back to say "thank-you".

These boys have a BIG imagination.

I had to put the turkey behind a fence because there version of the story went like this...

Me: So, Jesus was walking down the road with his disciples and teaching them.

Boy: Why don't some of them have faces?

Me: I can't draw.

Boy (but probably not the same one): Is the turkey following them?

Boy: Yes, it's protecting Jesus.

Boy: It wants to hear the stories.

Me: The turkey is not part of the story. (Draw some rocks with people hiding in them.)

Boy: OH NO, Stop Jesus, There are bad people up there.

Me: No, they are lepers - they were hiding because they were not suppose to talk to people. (Explained lepers)

Boy: No, they are bad people.

Boy: The turkey will eat them - then they can't hurt Jesus!

Me: (trying hard to NOT laugh) OK, we'll put the turkey behind a fence!

(story continues for a while....)

Me: So only one person came back to say thank you.

Boy: Did they thank the turkey?

Me: No, they thanked Jesus.

Boy: Yeah, because He didn't let the turkey eat him.

At this point - I cracked up.

We got the back half of our pine cone turkey's finished.

The following week, we did the heads.

We did their hands and then wrote 10 things that they were thankful for onto the fingers.
