Vannan has been saving for her own computer - wanting a Laptop - for nearly a year.
But when she was offered an older desktop model for free - it just needed a keyboard and mouse and speakers - which she found at Walmart as a package deal for $40. She had that in her savings toward her computer ... and we already had the small flat screen monitor.
A friend of ours works doing hardware and installations of computers. After doing an upgrade and installation of a local business, he inquired what to do with their older computers. The dumpster, they said. He considered and asked if he could find them new homes if he promised to wipe the disks of all important data. They happily agreed. And we were one of the first he called ... knowing that Vannan had her heart set on a computer - and with both Kendra and Vannan so much of their work on computers - this will be a huge blessing to us all.
We may need to upgrade the memory and find an antenna to talk to the router - but overall, this should help her while she resumes saving money toward her own laptop.
