11 - 6 - 10 - Unexpected Science Lesson

As Joel was heading off on his train trip,

excited cries began to rise from the play yard.

Kendra had decided to relocate the stage.

(The stage is the base of an old bed.)

And what to their wondering eyes
did appear?

But an amazing wall of dirt and debrie.

Amazed they pondered
and wondered aloud.

How did that get there
can we knock it down?

And full of the knowledge
and smartness of school,

Kendra filled them in
on the facts of erosion.

Briefly the boy pondered
the lessons he heard

Then stomped it to flatness,
not saying a word.

11 - 6 - 10 - Joel's Grand Train Ride - Part 2

Best Friends

Last picture before heading home.

I think they look a bit on the cold side.

But Joel is STILL talking about his trip.

Nov 6 - Joel's Adventure

One afternoon, I got a call out of the blue

Can Joel come see a train with us?

Well, I guess so ...

Tim said sure ...

We THOUGHT he was going someplace nearby.

But they went completely out of the state!

About 3 hours north of us.

We have TREES -
not cold views like this!

I should have sent Joel a bit more to keep him warm.

Katie is wearing a hat that Kendra made for her.

Aug 29 - Sprinklers

Ever so often,
Joel gets to spend the night with Matthew.

And on this day -
it was HOT.

So they played in the sprinkers.

Of course they found mud too.

I love the look on Joel's face.

He's got water in his eyes.

And they found a water slide.

Karen said that when they they were done
they were covered from head to toe
with mud.

Oct 29 - Our Little Copy Cat

LaRue is a great little copy cat.

Most babies are ...

But this amazed me the other day ...

She has a perfect grip on that pencil.

I guess she has watched me teach kindergarten
and proper way to hold the pencil
all of her little life.

Often from the table top
or my lap
or the nearby crib.

Now if she could just figure out how to get
the pencil to make marks on the paper ....

Oct 29 - LaRue Goofing Off

This is a common look that she gives out.

And this face is only given out if she likes you.

See all the teeth?

She's got 4 molars since then and 2 or 3 of them would have been visible in this picture.
