Inside part of my a c froze

pray for wisdom on how to handle this.

It will take 24+ hours for it to melt and completely dry out.  We are trying to gently work the dirt out with a soft toothbrush (SLOW).

The engine might be burned up (based on the smell).

It may be down on the freon.  But since we've already had work on it this year (outside unit), and the guy usually checks the freon when he replaces anything, I would think he did this time?  but we could have a freon leak.

Worst case:  replace the inside part of the unit (around 30 year old or older?).

Best case:  we turn it back on in 24 hours and it works.

Pray for inspiration and wisdom.
