Goodbye 2013 .... Hello 2014

Goodbye 2013

That's a really cute shirt Rue ...
Can I take a picture?

Uh ... NO.

Come on honey,
Show your face and that cute shirt...

NO!
Rue ... You are not being very nice.
Do you want everyone to see how naughty you can be?

Uh ... Nooooo???
Ok, Here I am all in my cute shirt!

Hello New Year!!!
Thank You to my church for the best of fun toys!
I've got a castle full of beads!!!
We had a snowman picture contest for Rachel's family get together for Christmas.

Rue made her own picture with a tiny bit of glue help from Vannan.
She would point,
and Vannan would give her a pile of glue.

Rue did the the rest.
Our glue is getting old, and it is very runny...
sometimes like water.
and some of it is very thick ...
almost too thick to get out of the bottle.
Joel joined into the project.
LaRue worked on her snowmen for nearly two hours.
Vannan helped write Merry Christmas
with Rue's directions.
Joel's entry.
The snowmen are suppose to be standing straight up.
It is a picture of Joel ... can you see him just above the tree at the bottom?
He is dreaming about living in a winter wonderland,
they were having a big party with his good friends the snowmen.

Just a short update:

Winter has been hard on us - lots of cold.
But we are surviving and haven't suffered from broken pipes or broken bones.
Tim has taken a number of falls on the ice -
and he would be the first to tell you .. yes, he HURT!

A friend stopped by to check our water leak.
Turned out to be a minor problem with a loose joint.
It was quickly fixed and he was on his way.
Thanks JN.

Everyone has been surprisingly rather healthy.
We've had allergies and colds aplenty,
but nothing too debilitating or lengthy.
We sure went through a LOT of kleenex!

On an unrelated note - the handle on our toilet broke -
at a very bad time ... as Tim had a stomach bug.
Tim picked up a new handle piece,
and we tried to install it ...
no, it wasn't difficult ...
but we couldn't get the plastic nut off to install it.
I thought it was going to have to go back to the store ... but...
Tim found the proper tools and the nut was off ...
So I quickly installed it.
I think it needs some minor adjustments still,
but I'll wait for a very sunny day so I can see what I'm doing!

Joel has taken on the job of making sure that the humidifier runs every day.
What a huge difference THAT has made on our school day.
Rue was getting several nose bleeds a day,
not bad ones ...
but when she caught a cold, she refused to blow her nose
because she thought her nose was bleeding really bad!
Since running the humidifier,
there have been less stuffy noses,
and no nose bleeds.

Otherwise,
it's been a relatively quiet January.
A few minor mishaps.
Nothing major or life changing.
We haven't gone out much - library and church.
Tim does almost all of the shopping.

So, the year has gotten off to a very slow beginning.
Which is really FINE with me!

Hugs to everyone!
