Love Is ... Snuggles, Laughter, and Hugs

Paul's Progress - July

Paul enjoys his tummy time.
Somewhere around this time, he also figured out how to roll over.

He LOVES to laugh and giggle.
He loves people.

Bethie loves to play with him.

There is no end the attention this boy gets.

Right now, he is working on sitting up.
And pushing up with his arms.
And putting weight on just one arm.

And a few other things.
He's a very happy and content boy.
Full of smiles and coos.
And the funniest faces.

Lady LaRue of the Lake - July 14

She didn't like it at first.

But she wasn't crying either.
This is her pondering face.

I love the way the water splashed up in this picture.
I love the little dimples on the back of her hand.

That's about as far as she wondered into the lake.
She liked the way the water lapped up and back as the boats went around the lake.

We went with our church.
It was our Wednesday night activity.

Paul also enjoyed splashing his feet up and down into the water.

Sorting Supplies

A large challenge when you have multiple children schooling together ...

is

keeping track of which supplies belong to which child.

It's not easy when all 10 preschoolers have the exact same box of crayola crayons.
How do you know which one left the red crayon?

In the past, Karen has tried to lable them with letters of their name.

But now we have 4 A's, 2 M's, 2 K's.

So Rhoda labled hers 1,2,3,4

Do you know how much a 3 looks like an M on the side of a crayon?

Complicating this issue is that I don't see very well.

I need to go to the eye doctor and get a perscription for reading glasses.

So we came up with this idea ...

label with colored tape.

The plan was to use masking tape for each child.

But we found duct tape .. or sport tape.

We bought the sport tape for the rest of the kids.

Joel wanted us to take the blue off of ALL of his and replace it with yellow.

I asked Joel if we should label the watch he bought himself for his birthday.

What a look I got.

Then he laughed.

Funny Frames ... By Joel

Some of the pictures Joel took were just .... strange.

About half were over exposed and blurry.

Or not good subject ... like pointed up a nose. Funny.

Here are some interesting ones.

LaRue reaching for the camera - I really like the toothy grin.

A toy boat ... and in the bottom left corner ... Joel's toe.

The front of Joel's lunch box.

The yellow monster ... with the dirt basket removed.

LaRue .. by Joel

Joel has recently become very interested in photography.

He took ALL of these pictures.

These were some of his best.

I think he shows some talent.

He says he wants a "REAL" cambera for Christmas.

Next up ... some strange shots!

Fruit of the Spirit - Summer 2010

Peace

Color - Blue - a peaceful blue sky, a peaceful blue sea,
blue is often associated with a calm feeling.

Shape - Dove - world wide symbol of peace

Fruit - Blueberries - ever notice how peaceful it feels in a bunch of blue berry bushes?
Besides ... they were BLUE.

Patience

Color - Brown - brown plants often take a long time to grow
like trees - you have to be patient to receive
good fruit from a healthy tree

Shape - Acorn - The oak takes many years to grow from such a small seed.
But the roots grow deep and the trunk is strong.

Fruit - Pineapple - the slowest growing fruit we could think of.
And the color was a nice yellow/brown.

Fruit of the Spirit - Summer 2010

Love

Color Red - because that is the traditional color of love
and because Jesus gave his blood for our sins because he loved us.

Shape - Heart - we love with our heart

Fruit - strawberry - a fruit associated with love.
It's even somewhat shaped like a heart.

Joy

Color - Yellow - we thought it was the happiest color in our box.

Shape - SUN - the sun beats down it golden rays, warming us
cheering us, making life grow and thrive.
Joy is like that - warm and life giving.

Fruit - Orange - lots of vitamins. The pieces are shaped like a smile.
And when you bite into it - it squirts juice everywhere.
Joy should squirt out of us and bring a smile to our faces.

Fruit of the Spirit - Summer 2010

Our summer theme at church was

The Fruit of the Spirit.

We sang songs and learned the verse in Galations 5

on Wednesdays.

On Sundays, we worked through each one

with the goal being a mobile at the end.

I used the following websites in our plan.

Of course, I tweeked it as I went along and made it my own.

I'll post a full description later and more pictures of the boys (and Esther) working on it.

Baby Bedtime Faces - July 8, 2010

She was "helping" Kendra fold socks.

Kendra kept reaching over and tickling her.

This is was one of my favorite sleepers.

So sad that she outgrew it last month.
