Greek Pottery

Kendra and Vannan are finishing up a study on Greek History.

Actually, we should have finished back in January - but between my mom's death last year, extra chores (we don't mind),
me being pregnant, the garden, LaRue's late arrival, and the car accident

Well, we are really way behind.

But that is one of the plusses of homeschooling.
Yes, we are behind, but we never stopped learning and nobody will have to repeat what they already know.

One of their assignements was to find 10 projects that they could do with the little ones.

The purpose was to make History a FUN class.
So when we add it to their curriculum, they look forward to it.

My girls may not be able to tell you all the names and dates in history.
But they know their stories.
They know the culture.
They know how this affects us today in our culture.
And they are very aware of the fact that history really does repeat itself.

We are now working on the Romans.
The goal is to be ready to study the Dark Ages/Middle Ages come fall.

On this day, they learned about Greek pottery.

The boys wanted to use ALL the colors.
But clay just comes in a variety of browns/reds/orange hues.

And Soot paint (we used tempre paints) only comes in black.
