When unemployment and underemployment become the status quo for a family,
but you love to party
and have get togethers with family and friends ...
You get creative.
Kendra had always wanted a fancy ball for her 16th birthday
or to go see the Nutcracker ballet (as a 6 week early gift).
But she was also trying to write a book.
Kendra LOVES to write.
So we had a starving author party.
One activity,
We set up clay (from our playroom) at a table.
This was a HUGE hit with the little kids.
A second table featured coloring pages of famous fairy tales
and boxes of broken crayons.
On the wall behind this table, was a copy of each color page.
This game kept the part goers guessing which fairy tale each picture represented.
A 3rd table had stories started ..
3 notebooks and 3 stories.
People wandered by and added a few lines to each story.
Later, she put the 3 stories up on Facebook and continued this game.
She plans to copy them to her blog
http://knittedbygodsplan.blogspot.com
and one she plans to turn into a novel.
Another table was for gifts...
Mostly she wanted money toward her own laptop -
though not much got dropped into the box.
She made her own cake.
And friends brought their own pot luck finger foods.
We also blew up a bunch of balloons for the kids to bat around in the other room.
