Major thunder storms and tornado Warnings

Major thunder storms and tornado weather in east texas. Keep us in your prayers.

Update:   For as bad as the storm was ... we are hearing surprisingly little damage reports.  Most of our Facebook friends have checked in that they are fine and sustained little or no damage in the storm. There were colors on the radar that I didn't know they used - lots of white spots.  It hit us hard for a while - the downpour was like standing in a shower.  The thunder and lightening was nearly non-stop at 1 - 4 per second!  As the sun went down, the air was so green and eerie.

We were getting weather reports near where Tim's brother's family lived - extreme high winds, hail, and a few sighted tornadoes.  Not long after, a tornado bounced around just south of Tim's parents.  The brunt of the storm swung south of us - we watched it until the sun went down ... a small part of the storm swung up and north of us.  That meant though that others in our family got hit hard.  I haven't heard from our sister Ruth and family, or Mamaw and Papaw, or Uncle Roy.  But we did hear from our Dad when he took Ann home.

I don't remember such an eerie or scary storm since 1988 when a tornado swung around the south and east of us, for years we drove by and could still see the damage of uprooted trees lying in fields and homes caving in because insurance wouldn't tear them down or fix them - many like us, don't qualify for insurance.

The storm was horrible for about 2 hours, but God's hand of protection was over us and kept us safe.

Tim even took his birthday cake next door (where we go when weather gets really bad - they have a sturdy protected hallway big enough for our 3 families to hide in if we need to.)  And we all had cake ... Joel later observed that we had forgotten to sing Happy Birthday to Daddy.

Thank you so much for prayers tonight.

Keeping Busy Learning Things - Late Feb 2011

LaRue is always busy exploring her world.

opening
bottles and boxes
cupboards and drawers
books and pens

trying on shoes

This is Matthew.

Larue is often right in the middle of the school class.
Don't you love the look she is giving Matthew?

She was listening carefully to everything.

Nearby, Joel was coloring a pattern.
He got a bit of help from Mom.

She loves gadgets.
NOT baby gadgets.

This day, she had ran off with the calculator.
Sometimes she pushed the buttons.

And sometimes she talked on it like a cell phone.

Mid Feb - Paul Smiles

Giving his "Matthew" look.

Paul was approaching 1 in these pictures - just a few short weeks shy.

At a year old,
Paul sits up all by himself - without support.
He is beginning to get UP on his hands and knees and rock.
Is VERY mobile - he has an elbow, toe crawl that is amazing.

He is beginning to pull himself up onto his knees to look out
windows - and can stand quite a while holding onto something - like the rail of the bed.

He laughs a lot.
He screams every time LaRue walks nearby.
LaRue use to take every opportunity to check out his
eyes, ears, nose, and mouth,
and would push him down if he tried to push himself up.

He is very healthy, almost never sick.
He is highly responsive to people and sounds.
He loves to explore.
He has his favorite toys and books.
He loves to push cars around the room.

He has PT weekly.
He is 18 or 19 lbs.

And he is a very happy little guy.

Mid Feb - Joel's Gears

Joel got gears for Christmas.

He plays with them as often as I'll pull them down off of the shelf.

The shelf is to keep tiny fingers from dropping all of the pieces down into the air vents.

He plays with them for hours.

But will always say, "I'm thinking I need more of these."

I'm thinking, "Where will we put them?"

Pregnancy Support Services of Wake Forest:

Pregnancy Support Services of Wake Forest:

Dear Friends,
We are excited to let you know that we are participating in "4,000 Steps" on April 30th, a 2-mile walk-a-thon event, to raise financial support and awareness for Pregnancy Support Services of Wake Forest. We want to support women, men, and their families who are dealing with the difficulties of an unplanned pregnancy and we hope you will consider sponsoring us with a gift of $5, $10, $25, $50, $100 or more to help us reach our goal.
Please donate before April 29th!
Please visit our personal fund raising page http://support.psspartners.com/goto/lundquistfam to learn more about this great organization and to sponsor us today. We really appreciate you helping us reach our goal and caring for these women in need!
Thank you,
James & Rebekah L. & Family

PS—This organization does not use any funds for legislative pursuits surrounding the abortion issue…they just resource women to make decisions that are best for them. They do not perform or refer for abortion.

Just think: If we got 1¢ for each step our family of 14 took, we could raise $560 dollars. Anyone want to sponsor 56,000 steps at a penny each?

Feb 12 - It's a Hee Haw Life

Dad's and Aunt Ruth's church put on a LONG program one night.

My arms were too full of extra kids to take pictures of Ruth and Heather's group dancing.  I almost had forgotten I had a camera also.

And there were all those heads in the way.

Then I got smart, and started to send Joel to the front to take 5 pictures.

We had singing solo's.
Comedy skits.

A clogging group.

At some point, 3 of the "grand quad's" lined up on the floor to watch
from a better perspective.

One year, all 4 my parent's daughters had a baby - Jan. April June July.
My best friend also had a baby in April that year.

My mom helped (with delight) 3 of those births.

Grub 2 - Shi - Joel - Grub 3

Below you can see Ruth in her costume.

Malinda - Miya - Marriana - and Tim and LaRue

Another comedy skit

And a family of singers.

More solo's

And a teen band closed the nearly 2 hour show.

It was REALLY GOOD.

But - the kids were REALLY HUNGRY.

Afterwards - at about 8pm - they served a Chili dinner.
Daddy had made a Road Kill Chili.

Update on Tornado

Praise the Lord no one was hurt when a tornado hit our company at 2a.m.

this morning. Our offices are a total cave-in loss. Just got my programming

computer up and running after drying it out all day. Server is lost and have

not had a chance to examine backups yet.
4:27pm

from Uncle Tommy

Prayer Request - Tornado Damage

I signed onto facebook this morning - I enjoy catching up with family and friends there, and often end up with a dozen or more new prayer requests for the day.

First, Aunt Cindy is headed back to school today - first day after her knee surgery.  It has taken a lot longer to recoup than was anticipated.  The surgery was delayed for a few weeks, due to high blood pressure - she had scheduled it to coincide with her Spring Break.  Then they did more work than they had planned.  She ended up in the ER one night with chest pains.  ...  But today she is headed back to teach her second grade class.

Anyway - Aunt Cindy posted the following ...at 2:40 this morning.

Hubby headed to his shop. Tornado hit to the office area. All of his night shift guys are okay, thankfully they were all in the other end of the building-- HUGE building. Hoping not too much damage and that L residents are safe.

Uncle Tommy reported 2 hours afterwards....

Made it here safely. Our offices are a total loss can't get to computers for fear of a cave in. Praying we can salvage the computers and that our backups are current.

That is all I have heard.

Uncle Tommy is one of the head managers of his plant.  They have big orders to make wooden things ... like the drum wheels that wires or flexible pipe line are wound onto.  I know he has lost a lot of sleep last week with Aunt Cindy's knee, so pray for strength and wisdom and alertness for him as he helps deal with the issues involved in such a fiasco.

Feb 12 - LaRue's Favorite Cup

She loves her "big girl" cup that is just her size.

She also loves the messes she can make with it.

For a tiny cup, it sure holds a LOT of water!

Feb 11 - Science and History for Kindergarten

Our public library has about 50 books on CD
in the category of science or history.

Joel loves to check them out,
and he gets to choose the one he wants.

He loved Ben Franklin.
And the Bats.

He sits for close to an hour,
with his headset, listening and turning pages
in the books.

Sometimes he changes books,
and sometimes, he doesn't.

He does the same thing with his MP3 player.
On his player right now are "50 Famous Stories Retold"

with stories from the Greeks and Alexandar all the way through William Tell.
Some of the stories are more legend,
and some are more supported by facts.

Both free through LibriVox.

He has a lot of songs and other stories as well.

Sometimes, he likes to play with his Legos
while he listens.

So he get's math and physics in too.

Do you like his airplane?
